Resource Fairs

What is a Resource Fair?

The Offender Resource Fair is your chance to participate in an important event that will assist inmates in gaining crucial information about accessing existing community resources before they are released. Participants will be able to set up booths where they can provide information about their services and answer questions from inmates who will be attending the fair and ‘browsing’ the booths.

This event was developed by one of our Transition from Prison to Community (TPC) workgroups. TPC was a statewide initiative focused on transitioning inmates back to the community in a safe, effective manner following incarceration with the Department of Corrections. Membership in the workgroup behind this event consists of state, local, and community leaders who have an interest in public safety.

TPC has identified several issues that impede successful inmate transition, among them, lack of awareness and access to the many community resources available to offenders.

With resources fairs, we are able to close that gap. Inmates will have the opportunity to speak with providers face to face. The event is much like a job fair.  Each provider will have a table and inmates will have the opportunity to visit each provider to gain information.

When and Where?

We have three resource fairs a year, rotating between the five Department of Correction facilities. Typically, resource fairs are in April/May, June/July and September.
